The Story Behind AMCPA
After more than a decade in traditional accounting, Allison Mott saw how intimidating the process could feel. Clients came in anxious, apologizing for messy books or missed filings, when what they really needed was clarity and trust.
As both a CPA and small-business owner, Allison knew there had to be a better way. So in 2019, she built one.
AMCPA was founded on a simple idea: accounting should make people feel confident, not confused.
What began as one woman’s mission to modernize the client experience has grown into a full-service Kansas City accounting firm serving individuals and businesses across Missouri and beyond, known for its approachable expertise, proactive communication, and genuine partnership.

Allison Mott
FOUNDER + CPA
With over 15 years of experience in public, private, and nonprofit accounting, I blend technical expertise with a genuine passion for helping people feel confident about their finances.
My approach is rooted in empathy and clarity—no jargon, no condescension, and no surprises. I believe clients deserve to understand what’s happening with their numbers and to feel supported every step of the way.
When I’m not leading the firm or advising clients, you’ll find me paddleboarding, exploring the city with my best friends, Moon and Sunny, or making mocktails for Instagram.

Micha Brookins
I'm Micha Brookins. I joined the AM CPA accounting firm in Kansas City in December of 2021, and my primary focus has always been serving our individual income tax clients. I understand that tax season can be overwhelming, so I focus on creating a clear, stress-free experience—translating complex rules into practical steps and offering year-round insight to help clients make informed financial decisions. My goal is to ease the dread often associated with taxes and replace it with clarity, trust, and long-term financial success.
I hold a BS in Accounting from Park University and an MS in Accounting from the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and I draw on both my education and hands-on experience to offer thoughtful, tailored support to every client.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jesse, and our son, Benji, along with knitting, drinking coffee, and watching movies.

Halie Allred
I’m Halie Allred, a Senior Accountant at AM CPA. I work with small businesses to keep their financial records accurate, organized, and up to date. I’m known for bringing positivity and a little fun to the accounting world, and since joining AM CPA in January 2022, I’ve grown tremendously both personally and professionally.
I earned my BS with a double major in Accounting and Finance in 2019 and completed my MBA with a specialization in both fields in 2023.
I moved to Kansas City in 2020 and quickly fell in love with the city. Outside of work, I’m a huge football fan—Chiefs or not, I’m always tuned in. I also love spending time with my family (especially my six nieces and nephews) and hanging out with my cat, Humphrey.

Hi, I’m Chris. After 20 years in institutional investment banking, I joined AMCPA to bring my expertise in accounting and client relations to small businesses. As a lifelong Kansas Citian, I love family time with my wife, three sons, and our pets, and I never miss a chance to watch Gordon Ramsay or root for the Chiefs and Royals.

I’m Chris Alvarez, a California native now happily settled in Kansas City with my fiancé and our energetic pup.
I joined the AM CPA team with a background in operations, administration, and process optimization. I love helping people solve problems, building efficient systems, and supporting both clients and our internal team. My goal is to make things run smoother, clearer, and easier for everyone we serve.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me staying active, exploring the city, or out on a motorcycle ride. I also enjoy discovering new trails, checking out local spots, and spending time outdoors with my little family.

I’m a St. Louis native and Drury University grad, and am very passionate about helping clients understand their numbers and make smart, confident decisions. Maribeth Maddex
I'm Maribeth Maddex, a Native Kansas Citian with a love for accounting.
I am a recent graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. I plan to further my education by sitting for the CPA exam. I had the opportunity to intern with AM CPA the summer of 2024 and have not left since! I am so lucky to have found such a supportive workplace so early on in my career with great colleagues and great clients!
Outside of work, I'm usually on the move...literally! I've completed seven half marathons and am always training for the next one. I also like to read, crochet, thrift, hang out with friends, and explore all that Kansas City has to offer!

Hi, my name is Marti Hamerle, and I’m a proud Kansas City native! When I’m not working as an Admin Assistant for AM CPA I love watching movies, trying new crochet patterns, and planning my next trip! I greatly enjoy both exploring new cities and finding new things to love about places I’ve already been. I’m also a huge sports fan, and love to cheer on both the Kansas City Royals & the KC Current!
Though I’m still new to the CPA industry I have many years of experience working as an admin and supporting multiple departments at once. I’m excited to bring this experience and my creative mind to AM CPA where I can both support our team and our clients!

Moon Mott
Hi I'm Moon Mott, CPA (Canine Pawsome Accountant) of AM CPA! My mom is Allison and I hold a large role at our office. I spend my days checking accounts pawable, depawsits, and tax ruffunds.
When I'm not hard at work, I can be found napping in the sun or receiving lots of cuddles and kisses. My favorite toys include stuffed animals that are bigger than me and I LOVE it when I get to taste human food!
I've been with AM CPA since day 1 and can't wait to keep kickin' assets!
